Newcastle Building Society was founded in 1861 as the Newcastle Permanent Building Society. Its current format and name was formed as a result of the merger between the Grainger and Newcastle Permanent Building Societies in 1980. The Newcastle Building Society is a mutual building society with financial products and services centering on credit cards, personal and corporate loans, savings and investment services, mortgages, insurance and intermediary services to UK customers.
